What in the world am I talking about? Being the mom of an army soldier and the wife of a first responder using military time is not foreign to me. In fact, using military time is not new to our parish either. In 2018 fellow parishioners, Michel & Jenét Cazayoux, who leads our Confirmation Prep Program, had us praying for our confirmation students at 8:18 PM each night. The following year it was 8:19 PM and so on. When I met with Fr. McIntyre to prepare and plan for the upcoming year I told him about an idea I had to specifically pray for vocations from St. Bernard Parish. Court St. Paul already prays for vocations and the perseverance of vocations every Tuesday and Thursday before 5:30 PM Mass. In order to include a daily prayer opportunity and more people, I suggested we promote PRAYING A HAIL MARY daily for the specific intention of more vocations coming out of our St. Bernard Catholic Church Family. Fr. suggested we use our court number, 1434, as a symbolic military time, for us to pray for just that. Afterall, we are the Church Militant and we are in a battle.

So was born THE 2:34 PM HAIL MARY campaign!

The Holy Priesthood was instituted by Jesus Christ. It is a sacred call upon a man's life who is first born into a family. Priest are called by God from our families. .This campaign is for us to pray that each and every young man God is calling from St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, LA is able to hear and answer that call . So let's use those smart phones and watches for The Kingdom of God; set a daily alarm for 2:34 PM and let's pray in unity for an increase in vocations from SBCC. St. Bernard, pray for us.

Did you know Catholics have a devotion for each month of the liturgical year? The monthly devotions are to help deepen the spiritual life of the Faithful. The devotion for October is to Our Lady of the Rosary. On October 3rd following the 5:30 PM mass the entire SBCC family is invited to pray A LIVING ROSARY alongside CDA Court St. Paul. We will pray the Sorrowful Mysteries with the following intentions in our hearts:

For holy & Sacramental marriages

For Vocations from our parish and diocese

For our friends & family to return to the practice of the Catholic faith

For the deceased members of our family & parish

For us to seek & grow in the knowledge of our Catholic faith & to live it boldly in the world

You may also bring your own personal intentions to be placed in our prayer box at the feet of Jesus, Mary & Joseph.

This is a unique and special time for us to come together as a faith community to both represent the prayers of the rosary and share in praying the rosary together. Our Living Rosary is a slight variation of the original 1826 Living Rosary which St. Pope John Paul II was devoted to, but it is the way the Catholic Daughters of the Americas-Court St. Paul in Breaux Bridge LA has honored.

Our Lady of the Rosary for many many years. Tell us how you plan to live out your devotion to Our Lady of the Rosary?

Our parish celebrated our patron saint, St. Bernard, Sunday-August 20. We gathered as a family in the Borel Center following 11 AM mass for fellowship and a delicious meal. The Knights of Columbus cooked spaghetti and CDA decorated and prepared desserts. It was very well attended and there were no leftovers!

Fr. Reed blessed us and our food and then visited with each table of parishioners. Fr. McIntyre had Baptisms but made it in time eat and celebrate with us.

How blessed we have been to have St. Bernard as our patron. Remember you can have a relationship with him. Click below to read more about him, his life and contributions to Holy Mother Church. Ask him to pray for us, your families, and for all the good things God has planned for St. Bernard Catholic Church.
